Duke Energy plans $100M investment in solar ” Duke Energy Carolinas is ramping up plans to generate some of its own renewable energy. That will include a $100 million investment in rooftop solar energy, a program that will involve working with commercial and even residential customers.”

Google, BP, StatoilHydro invest in solar thermal firm “BrightSource Energy, Inc., a specialist in harnessing the heat from the sun to create steam for electric power generation, on Wednesday said it closed a $115 million round of financing from a diverse group of blue-chip backers.”

FloDesign gets $200K from MIT competition for better wind turbines “Wind power turbines have looked pretty much the same for decades, and the basic design concept has stuck for centuries. That’s something FloDesign wants to change, with a turbine design that takes its cues from jet engine design.”
